The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was definitely one of the most exciting things we did. We decided to go at night, because we heard that it was really amazing. Whoever we heard that from was right! We started off by leaving the apartment and taking the metro in the direction of the Eiffel Tower at like 6:30 or 7:00. We walked around a little bit, admiring the Eiffel Tower and taking pictures. Then we went and has dinner at a cafe that we found. We could not see the Eiffel Tower from our seats, because there were trees blocking it. But it was right there! After dinner we hurried over towards the Eiffel Tower and the park below it to try and catch the 9:00 light show. It never happened, because it was still too light. We wanted to wait and see the 10:00 show, because we knew we wouldn't be able to see the lights very well while we were on it. So we went up. The line to take the elevator was sooo long, we decided to just walk up to the first floor. Well, turns out we had to walk to the second floor! It was far (674 steps), but really fun. Samantha was the first one up! We had gotten tickets to go all of the way up, so we got to take an elevator from the second floor to the tippy top. Wow!!! What a view!!! We could see EVERYTHING!! The hill that the Sacre Coeur is on looked the exact same as everything else, and the city was like a picture all lit up with beautiful lights.
When we got back down to the second floor, the 10:00 light show was just starting. We tried to see it, but it was kind of hard. We could tell it was beautiful! Some of us were upset to not be able to see the light show from below. But we still took our. Time and enjoyed Everything as we took the journey in the elevator back down. (Even if you walk up you can take the elevator back down). When we were once again dropped down back onto the ground, we walked over to the grassy park next to the tower to admire it some more. Earlier that day we had bought some macaroons at a farmers market we came upon in Montmarte. We got out the treats, and had our yummies. The Eiffel Tower looked beautiful, all lit up and shining. It was about 10:00, and us kids were all trying to delay our departure until the 11:00 light show. According to my mom and dad, though, that wasn't even a possibility. We just relaxed, and all lay down to gaze up at the amazing thing, intended only for the world fair, now a great and famous wonder of the world.
We were all relaxing, Claire checking the time once and a while to see how long until 11:00. The macaroons were very good, and we were very happy sitting there. An occasional person would come by and try to sell us something, and there were people sprawled across the vast grass, but it was still pretty silent. Finally, the clock struck 11:00, and we were right there to watch the beautiful, sparkling lights all around the tall, Eiffel Tower. Wow! We were all amazed by the sight before us. The light show went on for about 10 minutes. After it was over, we were more happy than ever to have come experience the Eiffel Tower at night.
When we were getting ready to go back to our apartment, Samantha and l decided that we wanted to get a souvenir at the Eiffel Tower. We found a person selling different sizes of Eiffel Towers, so Sam got a keychain and I got a little Eiffel Tower. By 11:30 we were ready to go, and we headed home, where my mom's friend Erin Gee was waiting for us At the apartment, where she had just arrived.
The Metro ride home was quite tiring, and the Metro seemed just as crowded as it had at 2:00 the afternoon. We were happy to get into bed at our apartment. Wow!!!!! That was a fun night!

Before it got dark

Sight from the bottom

Amazing view from the 1st floor

Wow! A sunset from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower

Doesn't it look like this could be on a postcard it's so perfect? :)
The magnificent Tower lit up for the 11:00 light show. You can't see that the lights are blinking all over it, because it is really hard to capture that kind of thing in a still picture. Imagine what you are seeing, now times that by 10!
