The Podoll Family: Arles ancient ruins

On Monday, we went to a town called Arles. Arles used to be a Roman city, and it has tons of amazing old ruins. We first went to a museum and saw stuff from prehistoric, Greek, and Roman times. For my independent study i am studying Greece right now, and we recently finished studying Rome, so it was very interesting to see all of that stuff from back then. After we went to the museum we had lunch, then walked to the Roman amphitheater. It was very neat. A mini version of the colosseum, with barely any tourists but just as cool sights and better for children, as my parents put it. They went to Rome last September. Though the amphitheater was very cool, it has partly fallen apart, and because they are currently using the area for different activities, they have replaced most of the crumbled stone with bleachers.
In medieval times, the amphitheater was remodeled into a little town, with a town center in the middle and houses around the outside and going up the walls. It would have been very amazing to see. We then went to the ancient theater, where they did all of the plays. Where there used to be a 3 story building in the background, there are hardly any stones left to give evidence of it. We also went to the baths, which have a very interesting story to it. In those days, no one had a bath tub at home, so they would go to the public baths and bathe there. They had three different main rooms at the baths which we saw: the hot room, the cool room, and the cold room. We saw how the rooms were kind of deep, because underneath was where they put the fire. It was a very cool experience to see all of this roman stuff.
